It's almost the end of 2018.
Today, I posted a selfie photo in Instagram and Facebook overlooking outside my house, with the caption "Counting the Blessings".
I am so thankful to God for this year. Why is it important to count the blessings?
I believe, counting the blessings makes me humble before God and men because by doing that I realize more and more that that blessings come from Him and it is not about me. That is why, every day, we declare as a family that we are blessed and highly favorite. So, as I look at this year, it is just amazing to go through what the Lord has done. I wrote in my previous blog about working with my wife. Yes, it is worth mentioning that one of the blessings of 2018, is working with my wife, Olivia. She has done a great job bringing our business to a new level. God has given her wisdom to manage different teams, clients, and "her husband".
Another important reason to count the blessings is that it reminds me of the goodness and the mercy of God. There were situations that we could have been hurt like in a car accident but the Lord protected us. I was driving on a highway and the family is in the car and suddenly I see this four wheel drive coming from the back really fast. I am on the fast lane and it is one of those moments that you are not sure whether to give away or stay in your lane. I decided to quickly give away and I felt the four wheel front tire touched the bumper of my car and he overtook us. I stopped the car and noticed the black marks left on the bumper but nothing serious. So, I thank God for protection.
I count the blessings as it reminds of God's favor. We have experienced a lot of favor in our business. We have clients that in the natural way was not possible to have a deal with, yet God opened the doors for us and every time He will put someone that favors us. Many people do not have a revelation of God's favor. It is a very powerful truth. Expect His favor in your life. It is real.
I count the blessings of God because by doing this, I will receive even more blessings in 2019. It is the principle of sowing and reaping. I sow gratitude and I will get even more to be grateful next year. Yes, I believe 2019 will be a greater year. So, what are you waiting for...count your blessings, NOW!
It has been around two years since my wife, Olivia, left her corporate job in one of the biggest banks in Malaysia and join me in business. When I started the entertainment business doing shows as Mr Bean impersonator, and saw the business growing, I had a strong desire to have my wife beside me for a few reasons.
One of the reasons is that I enjoy her company. Many of our friends might not know this but I enjoy having her around no matter what the setting or the event. We were a typical couple under employment that we will kiss goodbye in the morning, go to our respective offices and meet later in the evening after 8 to 9 hours (after work), go home and have dinner and sleep (plus whatever happens at night;). So, I did not feel right about that. I felt that since I made a decision to marry this woman, I should be spending more time with her than my boss and office colleagues. Hope it makes sense.
Another reason that I wanted to work with my wife is that I wanted to be safe when it comes to temptations towards other women or other forms of temptations. Being an entertainer I am exposed to different environments during events like mixing with other performers, dealing with agents, sometimes going to perform in places where people are drinking and lots of sexy girls around. As much as I want to claim that I am a steady man, yet, it is better to have a preventive measures than looking for a cure later. Just like in the Bible when (paraphrased) Peter told Jesus that he will never betray Him and guess what, he did and not once but three times just like Jesus told him. So it is not bravery to claim that I am a steady man. So having my wife around in all those places that I perform gives me peace of mind. Plus, my agents know that Olivia is my wife so everything is clear.
The third reason that I will share in this write up is this. Most of the routines that I use in my shows, the ideas came from my wife and most of the people do not know that. She encouraged me from day one and gave me the confidence to face my fears and try new things.
The journey has been and it is still very exciting. The bottom line, I enjoy working with my wife.
The creativity and communication workshop took place in the beautiful city of Miri in Sarawak Malaysia. It was a collaboration between Miri city counsel and Curtin University Malaysia. The 100 teenagers age 15 to 17 years young enjoyed the beautiful Curtin campus.
I was very delighted with their hunger to learn and apply some of the principles in their life. We talked about many important things like DISCOVERING, DEVELOPING AND DISPLAYING their talent. These three stages are crucial to success especially when it comes to creativity.
They were also given a major assignment which was related to the topic "Use What is In Your Hands". So we took that literally and got the students to come with a short video about Curtin University and Miri town. For most of them, this was a first time experience and it was even more challenging as they had to produce the video as a team. Most of them did not know each other as they came from different schools.
This workshop was conducted more as an open mind process for them to see new possibilities in life and to think outside the box.
I am looking for more sessions with youth like these guys, so hungry and passionate about life.
I really enjoyed the book and I am inspired by Steve Harvey's story. It is amazing how many people tend to look at someone achieving mega success but not many people will stop and ask "How did the person get there?"
If you are not familiar and have not heard about Steve Harvey, well, he is a very famous comedian, talk show host, author and an inspiring man in the entertainment industry in USA. Since young, he was told that he would never amount to anything.
So the first thing to note is the voices that you hear. Everybody wants to say something to you, so it is our responsibility to filter which voices to hear. Many people will speak negativity to your life. Do not accept those voices. It is not worthy to sacrifice your future just to keep a friendship or relationship which is negative and destructive.
In this particular book, Steve Harvey he clarifies very well the point of discovering your gift. His gift is to make people laugh. He said, incorporating your gift into your life and sharing it with others will bring you joy, passion, and a new vigor for living life to the fullest.
But what was the turning point in his life? When he was tired of being tired, of being poor, sick, and going nowhere. This is that point in life that we make a decision to make changes.
It is never too late to make changes. As I mentioned earlier, one of the first steps is to eliminate the negative voices in your life. Many times, the most negative voice in your life is your own voice. While writing these notes, my son, who is five years old, is playing at my back on the bed doing something with the pillows. Suddenly I heard him say to himself "I am a failure". Immediately I stopped writing, turned to him and seriously corrected him to change his declaration to "I am victorious, I am a winner, I am more than a conqueror." He is trained to be positive but because he failed to stack the pillows in a way that he wanted, so quickly he declared "I am a failure". That's is the reason we need to catch ourselves talking negative and catch others too.
That is all I want to share for now. Be blessed and make your dreams come true.
Recently I did a fire safety talk in a shopping mall. I shared very basic practical information with the audience. The whole event is about properties. All of the panel speakers are experts in property investment, rental profits, mortgage tips etc. I was the only speaker talking about fire safety.
I am not going to talk about my sharing points expect one incident. One of the things I talked about was using common sense when it comes to safety. One of the examples I gave was when people go for a cigarette smoke in a shopping mall parking area where all the cars are parked.
I finished my talk and I was walking to the parking lot towards my car and guess what...somebody was smoking at the parking floor, just five cars away from my car. To avoid any unnecessary confrontation, I went back to the mall, found one of the security guards and informed them about someone smoking at the parking level.
You can imagine how I felt. Just finished talking about it and there and then, someone was doing it. If there is one place where people should never smoke, its in a multi level car park area. That's it, just felt like sharing this experience here.
Be safe dear friends.
2016 is over. Today is the first day of 2017. So exciting!
My daughter and I decided to learn something today from a great Malaysian guy who is traveling the world teaching people how to make money online and his name is Peng Joon.
Personally I have listened to Peng Joon live in Malaysia but now I want my daughter to learn eventhough she is 11 years young. As we always say, it is better for our children to be exposed at a young age than start to learn about money only when they work.
So, we played a short video from Peng Joon about making money online and we learn some important practical points.
1. Now business is about The Information Business. In other words, you and I can sale information. Peng Joon started by selling PDF books about online games, even games that he never played and does not know how to play. Hmm...Interesting!
2. Anyone Can Do It! We learned that we don't have to be the expert in a particular subject but we can use the knowledge and skills of the experts. In other words, we focus on marketing those trending ideas and products and marketing is a learned skills. Anyone can learn marketing skills. My daughter agrees.
3. Insane Margins. Developing online business is as simple as having a laptop and internet. That is how Peng Joon puts it and he is right. You can work from the comfort of your home or Starbucks. Oops no coffee for children:)
The information for sale has no price tag. It all depends on how much value we put into the information and that leads to insane margins. I hope we got this right.
4. Automated income. Once you set your products and information online the whole world has access to it. Imagine that when you go to sleep in a particular country, people are just waking up in another country in other time zones. That is awesome. Even if you have a retail shop in a major shopping mall, your shopping hours are limited to shopping mall hours. But that is not the case for online shopping.
5. No Limit. Peng Joon pointed out that there is no limit to the amount you can earn online. Sounds great but of course there is work involved.
What is important is that it can be done. Many people are already making good income online and it looks like it is our turn. My daghter agrees. Do you?
